Nature's Jugaad: Run the show on autopilot (Day 10)

There are 3 basic forces behind every life, everything we see in nature- the force of creation, the force of destruction, and the force of preserving- balancing between the two. This has been cleverly woven in Hindu philosophy. Hindus have 3 main gods, often termed as Trimurty- Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Mahesh (Shiva). Lord Brahma is a god or symbol of creation. His job is to create. Lord Shiva symbolizes destruction. His job is to destruct. Lord Vishnu is a balancer who preserves the balance between the two. His job is to keep Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva in balance, to keep creation and destruction in check.

We are taught to admire creation and creativity. We are trained to dislike or avoid destruction. However, in a way, destruction is a must if the show of life has to go on this Planet Earth. Creation and destruction are musts. If there was only creation, the trees would never die. They would keep getting bigger and bigger. Imagine this. The planet covered with trees. The same will be with animals. Imagine that they are born but they never die. They would also keep growing. Not sure, how the world would end up if there was no force of destruction. I think we need to accept that destruction is as important as creation. Now take an example of a wildfire in some forest. That is the force of destruction. At times it may appear that it has destructed everything but from somewhere the preserver, Lord Vishnu, subsidies the power of destruction and strengthens the power of creation. Creation starts taking over, and in a year or so, you will see new life springing back in the same place that was devasted by fire.

Let us take a look at human life. When a child is born, his body starts growing. His body keeps adding more muscles, more cells in every organ. This is creation. However, if you look carefully, there are cells that are dying at the same time when new ones are made. It is true the force of creation is much more powerful than the force of destruction in these early years. However, as the body keeps getting older, the force of creation in the body slows down, and the force of destruction keeps getting stronger. Then at some age, the force of destruction takes over and becomes stronger than the force of creation. This keeps going on and at one point, the creation of new cells almost stops and the destruction of cells accelerates, and there is an end- the life will end. After death, only the body is left, and the forces of nature are still in play. If you leave the body as it is, the forces of destructions will decompose the body and it will resolve in the five basic elements- earth, water, fire, air, and space. From these same elements, new life will be born. We talked about the beginning and the end of a typical human life. However in-between, there are times when destructive forces attack the body and make a person ill or sick. However, the Lord Vishnu, preserver, gets in the play. It gives the body the tools needed to fight the destructive forces and helps it get better.

Nature is nothing but these three forces in play. This is like nature is on auto-pilot. While driving, the force of acceleration is like the force of creation. We have to continuously supply energy and efforts to keep going. The moment we stop that, the very next moment, the car would start stopping. This force of gsvityy is a negative force. We need this force, otherwise,  how would we be able to ever stop the car? Besides these two forces, the third force, the force of balancing/controlling is needed for driving. This force decides when to enable acceleration and when to brake. This is generally the driver. However, for vehicles, now we have autopilot- some software that controls when to start, accelerate, slow, or stop the vehicle. Nature does exactly the same. The creative forces create things in the world- new plants, new insects, animals, humans- all sorts of new life. The destructive forces keep destroying them- continuously, or suddenly with fire, tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis. And there is preserver, balancer, who is like an auto-pilot, which keeps the other two forces in check.
So my jugaad is- let us embrace positives and negatives, creations and destructions, lucks and bad lucks, successes and failures, wins and loses. This is part of life. Take life as it comes.
